Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American television reporter, commentator and anchor for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from the University of Pennsylvania. In 1967 Mitchell was hired as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. She joined the CBS station WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. In Washington she was made general correspondent for NBC News two year later. From 1981 onwards she started reporting from the White House. In 1988, she became chief congressional reporter. She was appointed the chief White House correspondent by NBC News in the year 1992. Mitchell was a panelist on the TV show Meet the Press and also was the host for the program. Mitchell was a panelist in the 1988 presidential debates in the debate between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005, Mitchell was awarded the highly coveted Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and, in 2004, in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) awarded Mitchell with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award for her contributions to the protection and protection of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began reporting on for the White House in 1981-1988, and during the presidency of Ronald Reagan. She has covered several notable stories over time, including budget reform, tax reform, and The Iran Contra scandal. She traveled frequently along with Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
