Based on her observation of shadows reflected on the ground and shadows on the ground, the artist spent weeks perfecting the technique used to convey objects in two dimensions on canvas. Rather the subject is transformed into a reproduction of itself, where the surface transforms into the medium for it's individual interpretation of the subject, particularly when the subject is live or perishable objects like people or fruit. Her ephemeral art style is apparent and the only thing that remains of Alexa Meade's art is a photographic image. The painting and the photographic techniques are so closely coordinated that the end result is a flat, two dimensional space that achieves trompe-l'oeil. In this, the third dimension can only be seen in specific areas like near the eyes or in hair. Meade is also able to integrate her model paintings into the space of 3D that surrounds them. Interaction between them as well as the world they created is conceivable. In this way, she has dissolved the boundaries between painting, photography and performance.
